1-Day Emergency First Aid at work
What the Regulations Say
According to the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, employers are required to “provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work”. All workplaces and self-employed people are required to comply with the regulations regardless of the number of employees.
It is a requirement that employers must carry out an assessment to determine what first aid equipment, personnel and facilities need to be provided. The assessment should consider risks and hazards in the workplace, organisation size, lone workers, pregnant workers, young workers and all other factors that are relevant.
